The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest award that may be bestowed upon an alumnus by the Muncie Central Alumni Association.  Recipients of the Award are to be selected by a majority vote of the Board of Directors upon recommendation from the Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Committee annually.

The selection criteria for the award shall be based upon each nominee’s overall accomplishments (professional achievements and community service).  In addition, the Committee may give consideration to a nominee’s involvement and engagement with the Muncie Central Alumni Association and Muncie Central High School and consistent support provided by a nominee to the Muncie Central Alumni Association and/or Muncie Central High School through financial, volunteer,  and/or moral support.

The award shall be all-inclusive and not tied to any one profession.

All recipients must have graduated from Muncie Central High School; however, this requirement may be waived if a qualified nominee attended Muncie Central High School, receives a recommendation from the Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Committee; and the recommendation is approved by at least 2/3 of the members of the Muncie Central Alumni Association Board of Directors.

No more than 3 Distinguished Alumni Awards may be presented in any one year and the Distinguished Alumni Selection Committee is not required to recommend the maximum number of recipients to the full Board  in any given year.

Members of the Muncie Central Alumni Association Board of Directors are not eligible to receive the Award during their active term of service on the Board.

Written applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and the names of persons nominated for the Award will remain in consideration for three years after the date the nomination is received.  Nominations may be renewed by the Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Committee after the passage of three years.
